She graduated as a Forestry Agronomist in 1975.

Rosario Pou has an extensive career, in which she stands out:

  • His teaching activity at the Faculty of Agronomy.
  • Her role as Deputy National Director of Energy at the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining.
  • Her activity as a consultant for international organizations and national companies such as Comurex, which carried out the first export of wood to Finland.

Between 1990 and 1995 she was hired by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) as national director of the UNDP-FAO Project “Support to Forestry Development”, institutionally strengthening the National Forestry Directorate and its activities inside and outside the country, articulating with the competent authorities the different aspects to be taken into account to apply the 1987 Forestry Law, and implementing the National Forestry Plan.

Rosario Pou also held various positions in the private sector, in different companies of the Ence Group in Uruguay, in forestry, management and social aspects. In 2006, she ended her tenure as Vice President of Ence for the Americas. Since then, she has been the main partner of Rosario Pou & Asociados, in activities developed mainly in Uruguay and Paraguay.

In 2012 she was appointed member of the National Academy of Engineering of Uruguay.
