This overview demonstrated how technological innovation has increased efficiency, reduced costs, and expanded access to energy services. <\/p>\n<p>Using that example, he examined energy efficiency as a response to growing demand, climate change, and the need to optimize resource use. He also presented case studies related to electric transportation and street lighting in Uruguay. <\/p>\n<p>The tools analyzed included energy labeling, minimum performance standards, building codes, energy management systems, efficient mobility, economic incentives, and financing mechanisms.<\/p>\n<h2>The Plan for 2035<\/h2>\n<p>The conference focused particularly on the 2025\u20132035 National Energy Efficiency Plan, which is structured around three pillars: strengthening the regulatory and institutional framework; communication, training, and cultural change; and the development of tools and incentives.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-12328\" src=\"https:\/\/aniu.org.uy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/importancia-de-la-eficiencia-energetica-ahorro-economico.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"768\" height=\"432\" srcset=\"https:\/\/aniu.org.uy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/importancia-de-la-eficiencia-energetica-ahorro-economico.jpg 768w, https:\/\/aniu.org.uy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/importancia-de-la-eficiencia-energetica-ahorro-economico-390x220.jpg 390w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The plan\u2019s baseline scenario projects a 7.2% reduction in energy demand by 2035 compared to the projected trend without new efficiency measures. The other scenarios considered place that potential savings between 4.3% and 10.4%. <\/p>\n<p>Elenter noted that achieving these results will require progress in the design and implementation of measures for the residential, industrial, commercial, agricultural, and transportation sectors. Among these, it mentioned energy-efficiency labeling for homes, efficiency standards for equipment, and energy management for large consumers. <\/p>\n<h2>About the Exhibitor<\/h2>\n<p>Ernesto Elenter is a full member of the ANIU in the field of Energy Engineering. He holds a degree in industrial engineering and a master\u2019s degree in Energy Engineering from the University of the Republic.
